Vatican City Museum Part of the reconstruction of Hadrians Villa  Tivoli  showing the 2nd Century white marble Statue of the god Anubis  lord of mummification  who guided the dead to the underworld  here represented according to the Roman style as a personage clad in a toga  but following an "Egyptian" iconography. In his right hand he holds a sistrum  while in the left he has the caduceus of Hermes  which was used to guide the souls in the Greek-Roman religion
